Home Is Where Hanukkah Is

a few weeks ago the door to our room broke and we couldn't lock it. since all of our stuff was up for grabs annie (my roommate) and i were generally leaving our laptops in the neighbors room for safekeeping.

one day annie came home and the neighbors were out so she ended up with no computer and lots of free time and set off making holiday decorations

she made a lifesized paper fireplace, with a crackling log fire, stockings, and a christmas wreath.

and she put a menorah on the mantle of the fireplace.

anyways, when hanukkah started last night i was a little bummed because i'm at school the whole time and will miss out on celebrating with my mom and my brother and opening presents and lightign the candles and spending time together.

and then later that night when i got home annie dragged me into the hallway and we taped a paper flame to the top of the first paper candle on the paper menorah she made and she sang dreidel, dreidel because it's the only hanukkah song she knows.

and it was the sweetest thing ever.
