I was at dict.leo.org doing my german homework at work and the web browser window, which was taking up about two thirds of the monitor suddenly maximized! All by itself. Which is I know, not really that exciting. But then a minute later it went fucking crazy and maximized and restored andmaximizedandrestoredand like a million times, again without me touching anything. So for a minute I sat there as my internet went bonkers and tried to close it and then all the sudden it stopped again.
Later, I opened up Word to type up a syllabus and the computer started hi-lighting, again all by itself. I would type, and then it would hi-light somewhere else and I’d be typing there. Or it hi-lighted everything behind me as I wrote but didn’t move where I was. And then the whole thing hi-lighted and Would Not un hi-light.
So I called the computer guy to come look at it and of course nothing happened. He told me to restore my original desktop settings. Because having a non windows basic background makes impossible things happen?
After he left, the computer kept being suddenly weird at random intervals throughout the day, and then the next day it was fine. It’s been fine all week since.
So I guess I feel like it could have been the office ghosts, except when I wrote about them originally I was kidding and didn’t believe in them. Or my computer could have a virus or bug or a rational answer for its weird freaking behavior. Or maybe I imagined the whole thing, because spending all day staring at a screen is no good for my sanity.
(But don’t get ideas from that last option Hal.)

My ghosts have left me.
I'm glad they've found you, and that they keep you company.
