Answers in Unlikely Places

I can't recall who I was talking with, but I'm pretty sure it was at Robin's party. In any case, we were trying to decide if redacted is a word and it definitely is. I didn't figure this out by doing anything lame, like looking in a dictionary, but rather by stumbling across the word on ReverseCowgirl. FYI it means to edit/retract, especially related to printing or publishing.

I don't have any answers to Robin and Betsy's EPIC loud hour plus long debate about the future of the word cunt. Next time I'll have a panel of judges award points?

I have a bun that looks like a big furry caterpillar or faceless cat or massive living dust bunny. I also love her, and am getting close to deciding on a good name. I still like Sophie. Maybe Belle. I got her and all of her stuff on Friday, and then I had to go to work right after I got her settled. half of me was SO EXCITED to get off and play with her and the other half was SO SCARED because I was sure she would be dead or crying. She was fine. We've already experimented with three types of bedding, made a bunny proof play area, and decided on some rules (like only eating in the cage, not on my bed). It's pretty exhilarating having a little thing around! She's pretty much a miracle.

I can't believe I'm going to grow up and have kids and be millions more afraid and excited. I hope future me is more able to handle that.

Other news, I'm the black sheep in my family? Officially, it seems. My Aunt Michelle, who was here two weeks ago, called my Aunt Wendy, who was here this weekend and told her that there were "some things she should know about Jessi." So my Aunt Wendy sat down with my Cousin Laura a couple days before their visit and let Laura know that "Jessi smokes, and has a tattoo now" among other things, so that she wouldn't be alarmed. Next time I hope she remembers to mention that I work 78 hour weeks, made the Dean's list, and am planning on getting still more piercings in the near future. I like the majority of my 'flaws' and I like them a lot.

I dislike living in a separate state from my boyfriend. This pattern of three wonderful days followed by a week to two weeks of counting dissatisfying days until the next three wonderful ones is frustrating. And while I can have a really good time without him, doing things with friends or my family or reading books, I still like it better when he is closer. (hey- i hope you read this and smile. thank you for making long drives for me too.)

I ought to sleep for work tomorrow.

This black sheep business is amusing. I've been meaning to ask you about that cousin. Where did she end up going to college? Not Harvard I assume. Its interesting how those of us with "flaws" end up on top ... isn't it ;)

I always love to read your writing, because I can hear your voice in a ridiculously clear way.

Being the black sheep is so much more interesting, don't you think? I love your response to these events...humor about situations like that is what makes us survive.

Also, my past two boyfriends have lived 2-4 hours away from me, so I vaguely know what it's like to have a boyfriend far away, though not as far as another state. Anyway, my point is, it's only for a short time, and hopefully you cherish the time together all that much more.

I wish to see your bunny eventually!
Enjoy your books and such...
